What to expect
Candidacy consultation
Jyl assesses the pattern and density and tells you whether you are likely to respond. This comes before any booking.
The appointment
Blood draw, then roughly fifteen minutes while it spins, then injection into the scalp. Plan on about an hour in total.
The series
Usually three sessions spaced several weeks apart.
The following months
Shedding often slows first, then density improves. This takes months rather than weeks.
Before your visit
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment.
- Stop fish oil, vitamin E, ibuprofen and other blood thinners for three days beforehand if your doctor says it is safe to pause them.
- Come with clean skin.
- Let Jyl know if you have a dental appointment or any vaccination booked within two weeks either side.
After your treatment
Today
- Leave the scalp alone for the rest of today.
- No washing, no hats, no products.
- Skip exercise, saunas and anything that raises your heart rate until tomorrow.
- Tenderness and small bumps where the injections went in are normal and settle within a day.
- Avoid alcohol tonight.
- Call the practice if you have increasing pain, spreading redness, or any discharge from an injection site.
In three days
- Any tenderness should be gone by now and you can return to your normal routine, including washing and styling as usual.
- Do not expect to see anything yet.
- Shedding usually slows first, and that takes weeks rather than days.
- Call the practice if you have an area that is still sore, red or swollen.
